Position Summary The AI.Health4All Center for Health Equity using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine is seeking applications for a Grant Writer to support the Center's research programs. The Grant Writer is a member of the AI.Health4All Center and is a liaison to the College of Medicine grants management and fundraising staff. The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals/reports that support the AI.Health4All Center goals and meet foundation funding guidelines and criteria. This person serves as the primary grant writer, assists in managing funder relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on clear writing and outcome measurement. Duties & Responsibilities Manage a master calendar of grant proposals, prospects, and reporting deadlines. Research and identify grant opportunities relevant to our mission, including the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation. Write compelling, persuasive grant proposals and applications. Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of grants, from application to reporting. Collaborate with our team to gather necessary information and align grant applications with our strategic goals. Lead grant proposal preparation, assemble materials for proposals, and submit grant applications, which include: drafting Letters of Intent, proposals, grant application narratives, and budgets and collaborate to finalize proposals with faculty researchers, the grants office, and the Center leadership. Assemble and submit all necessary supporting materials and documents including faculty and staff biosketches, letters of support, etc. Monitor and maintain funder reporting schedules and grant compliance requirements. Drafting compelling progress reports and targeted program updates to funders that fully capture programmatic success. Maintain a library of grants and support documents. Other duties as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) A minimum of 3 years of grant writing experience, with proven success in securing funding requests. Proven experience managing the full spectrum of grant writing, including research, drafting grant requests, developing budgets, and managing reporting. Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including an ability to communicate complex work to diverse audiences. Strong editing skills and keen attention to detail. Excellent multitasking, organizational and time management skills, including an ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Master's degree Familiarity with clinical and health services research. Familiarity and experience working with National Institute of Health (NIH) grant applications.
