Job Title: GIS Service Engineer

The opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as a GIS Field Engineer and be a pivotal part of our team, overseeing the construction, installation, and testing phases of high voltage GIS substations (69kV through 550kV). This role places you at the heart of our projects, representing Hitachi Energy to customers, subcontractors, regulatory inspectors, and the local community. You'll ensure that our projects are executed with the highest standards of professionalism, quality, and safety. How you'll make an impact

  • Direct the work of field teams and subcontractors, ensuring they have the necessary information and materials.
  • Manage workers and subcontractors to meet behavior, quality, schedule, and productivity requirements.
  • Support recruiting and hiring of project teams, conducting interviews, and coordinating with staffing agencies.
  • Manage productivity and other factors to ensure construction is completed within project bounds.
  • Ensure construction products adhere to drawings, specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Promote a safety culture and manage safe practices to meet all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of high voltage GIS substations.
  • Conduct frequent inspections and document pertinent information.


Your background
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in field service or construction management, preferably with substation, switchgear, or high voltage equipment.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in an electrical or mechanical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership experience coordinating and leading crews on electrical projects.
  • Experience as a field supervisor in the assembly and commissioning of Gas Insulated Substations.
  • Proven experience working with power utilities.
  • Ability to read and understand complex documents, contracts, and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in operating test equipment and using Microsoft Office software.
  • Valid vehicle operator's permit and OSHA 10 training completion certificate or ability to acquire.
