Leidos has an opening for a Software Portfolio Manager in Reston, Virginia. The primary focus of the group is research and development related to assessment of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) processes and facilities. Candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple software related projects to achieve strategic goals by developing and implementing program strategies, managing budgets, timelines, and resources, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to monitor portfolio progress and mitigate risks.
The successful candidate will have excellent project and portfolio management skills, be exceptionally organized, have great mental agility, and with excellent depth of recall. Candidate will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel. Work will be performed within a government facility.
Role and Responsibility:
- Oversee and manage the portfolio of software products from conception to retirement.
- Responsible for working with the Government to establish program goals, cost, scope, and schedule; and to communicate those to subordinate project leads.
- Responsible for program management within the portfolio and project management of assigned projects in accordance with Leidos, Government, and best practice needs.
- Coordinate with the technical chiefs and a production management cell to obtain and allocate resources (people, budget, time) across projects within the portfolio.
- Ensure documentation for the product lifecycle and methodology.
- Develop and maintain an overall software portfolio roadmap to guide the development and deployment of software solutions.
- Coordinate with multiple teams to manage interdependencies between products.
- Foster a positive and collaborative project environment, ensuring teams are effectively communicating and working together.
- Coordinate with product development teams to ensure products are on track, within scope, and delivered on time.
- Monitor project progress using Agile and facilitate regular status updates and reviews.
- Escalate any resource allocation concerns, issues and constraints to the leadership team for resolution.
- Develop and manage budgets for the software portfolio, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Collaborate with internal leadership team and external stakeholders, including clients, to understand their requirements and expectations.
- Communicate development statuses, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Implement and enforce best practices for software development, testing, and quality assurance.
- Ensure that all software products meet the Leidos's quality standards and customer expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI, or a Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI, and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI w/ poly level clearance
- Requires BA/BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience
- Extensive experience with program management, project management or resource scheduling and forecasting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with Senior Officials
Preferred Qualifications:
- Program Management (PgMP), Project Management (PMP), Professional Software Developer or similar certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
- Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning
- Experience in WMD processes or technology
Experience managing highly technical research and development projects

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
