- Adult Acute Care NP Licensure or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP Licensure Preferred

This position manages post operative thoracic surgery patients on both a progressive care unit as well as an acute care unit with the primary focus being oncological lung and esophageal resections, airway, lung transplantation, and benign lung, esophageal, and gastric pathologies. The Thoracic Surgery Department is one of the oldest and most experienced lung transplant centers in the world. Surgical Care in collaboration with Siteman Cancer Center Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, and Chest Radiologists. Working with a strong interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Social Workers, Case Managers, Dietitians, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists.

Role Purpose
The nurse practitioner functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families across practice settings. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. The nurse practitioner demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.Minimum Board Certification(s):BJH: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP- with appropriate experience)Preferred Board Certification(s): BJH: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
