Job Overview

UC is one of the largest employers in the Cincinnati region, employing over 15,000 full time and part time faculty, staff and student workers. The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases is looking for an Associate Professor of Clinical. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Essential Functions

The Associate Professor of Clinical in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases will contribute to the clinical/patient care, research and teaching missions of the division.

Clinical/patient care and research duties:

  • Provide general infectious disease consultations for approximately 26 weeks per year and 4 outpatient ambulatory infectious disease clinics per week.
  • Serve as Infectious Diseases attending physician in both ?ID teaching service? and ?attending only? teams.
  • Engage in daily antimicrobial stewardship activities with infectious diseases pharmacists and adjust therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor patients discharged on outpatient antibiotic therapy (OPAT) and work closely with OPAT team.
  • Provide framework for quality improvement in patient care in infectious diseases.
  • Provide infectious disease service in county tuberculosis clinic.
  • Participate in public health research projects.


Teaching duties:
  • Actively engage in departmental fellowship programs, as well as UC Medical Center (UCMC) resident and UC medical student teaching, including while engaging in clinical/patient care.
  • Precept UCMC fellows and residents and UC medical students in office-based practice.
  • Provide lectures and/or lead small group discussions as part of the College of Medicine and/or UCMC residency curriculum, clinical case conferences, core curricula, and journal clubs.
  • Additional duties will include participating in departmental and/or divisional service meetings and conferences.


Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of appointment, must have all of the following:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Completed 3-year Internal Medicine residency/training.
  • Completed 2-year Infectious Disease fellowship/training.
  • Current OH medical license.
