Environmental Compliance Summer Intern - Military Veterans

I. Job Summary
ELMG-Midwest is seeking a Summer Intern for 2025 as part of WM's Corporate Summer Internship Program to support full-time staff on site-related work. This internship will provide hands-on experience in environmental operations, data analytics, and project optimization within the Upper Midwest Market Area. The position will be based in the ELMG offices at the Upper Midwest Market Area office in Germantown, Wisconsin, with work focused in the metro Milwaukee area.
The intern will assist District Managers (DMs) and Landfill Operations Managers (LOMs) on various projects, including:
- Site operations & maintenance (O&M) activities
- Site-specific data analytics
- Efficiency improvement initiatives
- Process optimization projects
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support O&M activities at WM sites, assisting with operational assessments and project execution.
- Perform data analysis and reporting to identify trends and efficiency opportunities.
- Collaborate with WM staff on special projects aimed at improving workflows and operational processes.
- Gain exposure to waste management collections and disposal operations through engagement with Upper Midwest MA staff.
- Participate in Air and Landfill Gas Operations projects, where applicable.
- Assist with environmental compliance, safety initiatives, and regulatory documentation.
- Attend training sessions, site visits, and professional development activities to enhance industry knowledge.
III. Internship Details
- Duration: 12 weeks (Summer 2025, starting late May)
- Location: Germantown, WI (Metro Milwaukee Area)
- Paid Internship Opportunity
- Future Opportunities: Strong candidates may be invited back for a second internship in Summer 2026, with potential for full-time employment upon graduation.

A. Education and Experience
- Education: Interns must have a high school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing a bachelor's degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship. Completed Course Work Hours: 60.0
- Experience: No prior work experience required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
- Interest in environmental operations and sustainability.
