Investment Performance Analysis Manager - Military Veterans

To provide expertise in performance analysis and reporting across investment portfolios and act as senior subject matter expert for performance related queries.

Core Responsibilities

1. Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

2. Oversees in-depth performance analysis, attribution and reporting of investment portfolios. Consults and advises key stakeholders, acts as subject matter and technical expert, identifies and resolves complex performance issues.

3. Leads the team responsible for producing and presenting accurate performance measurement, attribution and analytical responses to complex queries and requests from internal and external clients.

4. Serves as subject matter expert for global teams and collaborates with internal and external partners to support global performance analysis teams. Leverages strong industry knowledge to support relationship management.

5. Leads implementation of complex calculation models. Evaluates risk and performance. Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to mitigate risk and to enhance adjusted returns. Stays abreast of industry standards relating to performance methodology , attribution analysis and benchmark construction.

6. Identifies new opportunities in meeting client needs. Assesses information and communicates key findings and trends to senior management. Maintains open communication with internal partners to ensure a smooth flow of information and processes.

7. Leads improvement initiatives to anticipate business and client needs. Develops tools to streamline and improve service delivery.

8. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as necessary.

Technical skills and experience required

• Extensive experience working within an investment and performance analytics environment: either Practical experience working in performance, investment risk, and attribution reporting functions within finance environment with practical experience of leading a Performance and attribution team.

• Practical and theoretical understanding of performance methodologies ( e.g. daily time-weighted returns, IRR, etc.) & attribution methodologies ( e.g . arithmetic v geometric , and Fixed Income models)

• Understanding of market data indices (S&P/ASX, MSCI, etc.), characteristics (dividend yield, PE ratio, duration, etc.), and classification schemes (GICS, BICS, etc.)

• Knowledge of use and application of ex-post risk statistics such as tracking error, sharpe ratio, alpha, beta, volatility, etc. Understanding of ex-ante risk reporting principles will be highly valued.

• Strong practical understanding of the various asset classes and instrument types, including derivatives and how they should be treated for purposes of performance measurement and exposure reporting

• Minimum of 5-10 years aligned work experience

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Accounting or Finance degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.

• CFA Preferred

• Demonstrated ability to function in fast paced, ambiguous environment working with multiple and diverse responsibilities.

• Proven ability to develop and implement new business plans or change direction of business plans in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and motivation skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent judgment and ability to analyze and respond to issues.
