Systems Administrator Expert - Backup and Configuration

Our work depends on a Systems Administrator Expert joining our team to evolve and maintain network infrastructure for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.

HOW I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization's IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security. Expertise in Backup Configuration and Monitoring.
Serves as subject matter expert, possessing in-depth knowledge of Systems Administration (Backup and Configuration).
Provides technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.
Oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers including physical and virtual environments.
Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots highly complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups.
Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations.
Ensures systems are updated with latest security patches and software updates.
Implements and maintains security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
May assist in the development of IT policies and procedures.
May serve as a team lead. May manage project timelines, budgets and resources.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Master's Degree (Substitutions will be based on additional years of experience)
Required Experience:
  • 15+ years of related experience

Required Technical Skills:
  • System Administration, IT Systems and Infrastructure, IT Maintenance, Backup and Disaster Recovery, IT System Monitoring, Technical Documentation

Security Clearance Level:
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Possess Q or TS level clearance (or their equivalency) with the ability to obtain a Q level clearance
    • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain such clearance as a condition of employment

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Written and Oral Communication; Organization, Problem Solving, Communication, and Teamwork.

On site and travel to - Germantown, MD, Washington DC, Albuquerque, NM, and Las Vegas. NV

The likely salary range for this position is $121,680 - $97,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
