Quality Engineer Sr. - Military Veterans

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for its Jefferson City, MO location. This role is responsible for auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards. Reporting and troubleshooting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods. A Senior Professional applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
Your Responsibilities:
- Define and develop quality assurance programs to ensure conformance to codes and regulations.
- Conduct supplier and construction surveys, audits, and inspections for system and product conformance to quality requirements.
- Coordinate quality initiatives at customer sites, perform internal audits, and assist the customer in performing other quality assurance activities.
- Recommend measures to optimize operations while maintaining quality.
- Review purchase orders and specifications for proper quality requirements.
- Review / approve vendor and field quality assurance plans and practices, and (as applicable) suggest changes.
- Provide technical advice in specialized quality assurance technology such as nondestructive testing [NDT], metrology, statistical techniques (e.g. Statistical Process Control [SPC], etc.), fabrication techniques, quality codes, and regulations.
- Participate in the investigation of technical problems, as well as the establishment of procedures and CAPA (Corrective And Preventative Actions) to avoid recurrences.

Your background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR related experience and a minimum 5 years of professional experience working in engineering, manufacturing, and/or quality.
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Strong analytical skills, especially with data analysis, is heavily preferred - proven experience working with failure analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis), FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, & Criticality Analysis), test engineering, and/or product reliability is a plus.
- Recent experience working with data-driven analytical methodologies for industrial quality applications - especially Statistical Process Control [SPC], Six Sigma, Process Capability (Cp, CpK), and/or Process Performance (Pp, PpK) Analysis. Experience working with Process Improvement and/or Continuous Improvement practices (e.g. Kaizen, 4Q, DMAIC, Gemba/Genba, Root-Cause Analysis [RCA]; etc.).
- Recent professional experience working in Quality Engineering functions - experience working in Quality Control in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Strong familiarity with ISO-9001 standards is preferred; expertise in QS-9000 will also be considered. Experience working in product development and manufacturing.
