Basic Job Functions:

Basic Job Functions: 
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for a wide variety of accounting responsibilities associated with the preparation of Nucor’s external financial statements and our internal managerial reporting as part of the Corporate accounting team, while providing excellent customer service during interactions with our divisional accounting teams.   
 
The role of Accounting Analyst includes but is not limited to:   
•    Preparing journal entries and financial analyses needed for monthly financial close and consolidation processes.
•    Analyzing general ledger account balances to perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations. 
•    Recording transactions and generating financial statements for various Nucor subsidiaries.
•    Recording intercompany-related transactions in our intercompany reconciliation subledger and within our general ledger. 
•    Preparing SEC supporting data reports and disclosures. 
•    Researching GAAP and SEC guidance in support of accounting treatments and disclosures. 
•    Participating on project teams with initiatives to streamline the close process and automate the submission of data from the field.  
•    Involvement in the transition of and accounting for acquired companies and other unique transactions. 
•    Working within team to implement new ERP or consolidation systems in a way that improves upon the processes of prior systems in place.
•    Occasionally give presentations at trainings/meetings on topics related to the role.
 
The typical schedule for the Accounting Analyst, after completing initial training and demonstrating an understanding of responsibilities, may include occasional travel, including work on a flexible schedule as needed.  
 
 

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    2+ years of public accounting or industry experience with US GAAP and financial statement review experience  
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting  
 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    3+ years of public accounting with US GAAP and financial statement review experience  
•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License or CPA eligible with an interest in pursuing a CPA license 
•    Prior experience with ERP systems, such as Oracle HFM, SAP/SuccessFactors & Microsoft Dynamics 365 
•    Proficiency with advanced Excel functions  
•    Experience with manufacturing companies and/or companies with vertically integrated, decentralized structure requiring complex financial consolidations

     and intercompany elimination processes 
•    Technical accounting experience, preferably as it relates to business combinations
