Position Title: Assistant Professor in Exercise Psychology Appointment Type: Faculty Job Description: Summary of Duties and Responsibilities : The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position from individuals with expertise in exercise psychology, behavioral interventions, or related clinical / public health applications of Kinesiology. The Department has built capacity in behaviorally-focused, clinical, and translational research and seeks to attract a colleague with expertise in behavioral research to further strengthen and collaborate in this research area. Faculty in this area have active federal funding (NIH and CDC) and the collaborative opportunities are further enhanced by a formalized partnership between the ISU Translational Research Network (U-TuRN) and the Iowa Community HUB, a statewide community care hub focused on disseminating evidence-based programs through clinical / community partnerships. The person who fills this position is expected to develop an externally funded research program, publish in scholarly journals, integrate expertise into teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide relevant University and professional service.The department is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that their research and teaching expertise will complement and extend the expertise in exercise psychology now available within the Department of Kinesiology.The successful applicant will have strong departmental support, excellent research infrastructure (including acute exercise and exercise intervention facilities), collaborative opportunities with relevant units on- and off-campus, and a supportive, collegial work environment. Degree must be conferred by appointment start date. Evidence of a focused research program as demonstrated by publication record with evidence of potential for continuous external research support and impact on the candidates field Preferred Qualifications: Relevant postdoctoral experience Involvement in seeking extramural funding Demonstrated ability in college/university teaching is preferred, however all candidates who fulfill the required minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply Focus on exercise psychology related research with clinically relevant or translational research applications Department/Program & College Description : The Department of Kinesiology is one of five academic units in the College of Health and Human Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in kinesiology. The department has approximately 1100 undergraduate and 75 graduate students, making it one of the largest academic departments at Iowa State.
