Youth Central is comprised of a small team from various backgrounds but share a commitment to provide fun and engaging enrichment programs to the community?s 4 th -12 th graders while introducing them to Central Piedmont?s college environment. Looking for an exciting summer job opportunity? We are seeking a seasonal, part-time Technology Camps ? Lab Assistant/Substitute Teacher to join our Youth Central - Summer Camp program. In this split shift role, your main role will assist the Camp Instructor as a Lab Assistant with daily camp activities as well as be a substitute teacher (when needed) and teach age-appropriate technology camps course that inspires student's creative processes and sharpen their creative coding skills.The successful candidate will create a fun learning environment that, not only fosters inclusion, but inspires campers to imagine and create new possibilities, individually and collaboratively. Camp Lab Assistant /Substitute Instructors are expected to deliver on the following core responsibilities: Assist Camp Instructors with preparing and conducting hands-on camp activities to include checking in/out registered students Teach compelling, age-appropriate technology curriculum (in place) for grade-level 4 th -12 th (when teaching) Be knowledgeable of dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure appropriate snacks are provided to each camper Be knowledgeable of campers not permitted to sign themselves out of camp, or be photographed Be aware of camper?s limitations; physical and emotional well-being Maintains all relevant tools and equipment Keep the work area and surrounding environment clean and tidy Manage risk, supervise participants, and model safe best practices while working Keep inventory of materials and supplies, and clearly communicate the need for additional purchases in a timely manner. Model professionalism and accountability by adhering to the dress code and college policies and arriving to camp on time Responsibility and supervision of students during drop off, pick up and classroom/camp time Ability to multi-task, be persistent, and resolve conflicts as they arise Comfort and ability to communicate with students, parents/caregivers and faculty/staff in a professional manner Required to complete the college?s ongoing compliance training in a timely manner Any additional duties, responsibilities issued by the Program Assistant and Assistant/Executive Directors, as needed Associate?s degree or higher; must have proven experience in the subject matter Minimum 3+ years of middle/high school teaching experience required; teaching experience can be in a school setting, after school program and/or business Strong organization, planning and communication skills Must be fully available and committed to the camps scheduled (summer, spring/fall, etc.) Dependable, approachable, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse group of students Ability to travel to and from Central Piedmont campuses with reliable transportation Must be willing to conduct a background check Proficient in Coding software/language (especially Python, Roblox, JavaScript) CPR/Basic First Aid certification a plus
