Position Title: Assistant Football Coach Appointment Type: Contract Job Description: The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Football Coach. This position will work under the direction of the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator to assist with all phases for the Division I, FBS program with a commitment to adhering to university, Big 12 Conference and NCAA policies. This position will: Assist with planning practice sessions and competitive coaching situations; Identify and successfully recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes; Effectively teach, mentor and coach to develop successful and well-rounded student-athletes; Analyze scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents to provide effective strategy planning; Help ensure academic progress and graduation; Contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience; Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes; Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university staff and administrators, alumni, media and the public. This position requires a high level of football knowledge, expertise with running backs, excellent work ethic along with strong motivational, teaching/coaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires the ability to travel extensively including overnight stays for recruiting and competitions. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Experience coaching or competing in football at a highly competitive level (post high school). Preferred Qualifications: Successful NCAADI and/or professional football coaching experience with expertise working with running backs. Successful NCAA DI and/or professional football playing experience. Demonstrated ability to recruit and coach highly skilled student-athletes and have strong recruiting connections.
