Position Title: Part-Time Secretary, Grade B School/Division: Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Social Science Office: Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (HCLAS), Economics Full Time/Part Time: Part-Time Description: Reporting to the Department Chair, the Part-Time Secretary provides general secretarial support for faculty members and assists with daily office operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Schedules student advising and other appointments with the Department Chair. Greets visitors and fields calls, handling their inquiries and directing them to the appropriate individual. Maintains and updates departmental files and student records. Assists with preparation of reports of students and majors using Connect. Orders equipment and supplies for the department, maintains transaction log of all purchases, maintains inventory and places orders when needed. Maintains office equipment by making necessary service calls. Assists students with the registration process by submitting overrides. Assists with the supervision of student employees. Submits work orders/key requests to Plant Department and sorts and distributes incoming mail and other materials. Makes travel arrangements and completes check requisitions for travel reimbursements. Sets up and maintains department calendars each semester. Assists with the preparation of departmental documents and web page. May perform other duties not specifically identified above, but which require the same degree of skill, and which are normally included within the above job title. Hours: Monday through Thursday from 9am to 2pm. Subject to bumping Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Prior office experience.
