Broadcast Systems Technician - Military Veterans

WLWT, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in Cincinnati is looking for an experienced Broadcast Systems Technician. The maintenance technician preserves the technical integrity of the station's on-air signals and its equipment from acquisition to distribution. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote locations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Works closely with engineering and IT management and staff to support critical on-air systems and workflows including news, production, and broadcast systems and equipment.
- Provides user support in a Windows workstation environment for custom and standard software applications.
- Administers, maintains, and troubleshoots newsroom automation and streaming systems including field gear.
- Handles hardware configuration, imaging, and deployment, performs back-ups, and supports LAN infrastructure.
- Assist users with installing and using new software and features.
- Applies software, updates services, and executes OS upgrades.
- Maintains digital transmitters, microwave central receive sites, satellite antenna systems, signal distribution and routing systems, processing systems, monitoring devices, and automation systems.
- Maintains production equipment including robotic camera system, production switcher, playout servers, graphics devices, lighting systems, weather graphics and weather systems, audio consoles, microphones, and IFBs.
- Maintains news-gathering equipment including ENG cameras, field gear, ENG, DSNG, and SNG trucks, editing systems, and support devices.
- Maintains support equipment including master and sub switchers, monitors, computer systems, microphones, intercoms, and archive videotape machines and XDCAM decks.
- Conducts troubleshooting, installation, research, documentation, and cabling tasks.
- Must have 2+ years of experience working as a maintenance technician or an IT support specialist at a commercial television station
- Proficiency with computers, computer systems, and networking
- Solid background in broadcast television systems, transmission, and satellite communications
- Basic skill with video production, microwave systems, IT infrastructure, and station automation systems
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting a wide variety of broadcast equipment including digital broadcast transmitters
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to repair equipment down to the circuit level
- Can read and understand technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
- Can lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on rooftops, and in confined spaces
- Experience with Autocad for system design and layout
- Must be flexible to work various days and non-standard shifts as assigned
- Must have the ability to work effectively with other team members and independently
- Can work with minimal supervision
- Can to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Must have excellent vision (with or without corrective lenses) with the ability to read and distinguish colors
- In person work required
- Associates degree in electronic engineering, IT networks and systems administration, or a minimum of two-years of an accredited IT and electronics school equivalent
- Military training and experience in electronics, avionics, or related fields will be considered
- SBE CPBE (or better) certification a plus
- Military Broadcast Television Equipment Maintenance (BTVEM) course from Defense Information School (DINFOS) a plus
