Data Curator Your primary duties will include: Reviewing and accurately processing incoming datasets and surveys Providing essential quality control and checking for errors in datasets and related documentation by comparing final processed dataset and documentation to original materials Ensuring confidentiality and anonymity by removing potentially sensitive or identifying variables Creating accurate metadata through careful reading of datasets and related documentation Ensuring standardized metadata formatting by adhering to convention using data ingest software Monitoring custom software and working interdepartmentally to continuously enhance proprietary software Reviewing older archive materials for accuracy, completing and correcting missing or inaccurate metadata Translating data from older or obsolete formats to more modern formats Maintaining accurate documentation of data provider relationship status and communications Success Factors You are considered competitive for this position if you demonstrate: Skill with statistical software (Stata, R, SPSS) Keen attention to details and commitment to high quality work Ability to read and understand complex survey methodologies and make individual scoring determinations Comfort level in reviewing others' work and having your own work reviewed Ability to communicate effectively with others within your organization and outside of it What We Need Send us a resume and cover letter that outline your interest and experience. We are most interested in how you match the following qualifications: Associate's degree with two years of experience in data entry or in an office environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Entry-level experience with one or more statistical analysis programs Appreciation for detail and accuracy Ability to organize work, collect and analyze data, document processes and procedures, and maintain meticulous records Demonstrated written and oral communication skills Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Demonstrating a positive attitude when faced with challenging problems and puzzles Ability to remain organized when balancing competing project requirements and deadlines Ability to use good judgment and to seek direction when questions or issues arise Ability to understand and apply standardized procedures and protocols If you have any of these other qualifications, all the better: Bachelor's degree in a related field with coursework relating to data analysis or statistics Prior experience with social science, public opinion data, and metadata standards Experience using Slack, Google Docs, Confluence or other communication and project tracking software Intermediate-level experience with statistical software (SPSS, STATA, or R preferred) Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position.
