Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The idealcandidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among adiverse student population. Faculty members are responsible for developingeducational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy andframework of the program, MassBay Community College. The faculty member isresponsible for maintaining expertise in the discipline.

MassBay seeksan enthusiastic, collaborative professional full-time, tenure track HumanServices faculty to teach first and second year human services courses,including social work, psychology, and sociology, as well as a practicumcourse. The successful candidate will take an active contributing role in theBusiness and Professional Studies Division and teach a full-time (approximately15 credit hours per semester) schedule of human services courses which mayinclude courses at our Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and/or Ashland campuses, aswell as online classes. at our Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and/or Ashlandcampuses, and online as assigned. Classes may also be held at regional highschools and regional employers and other off-site locations. MassBay'sDepartment of Human Services offers degrees and certificates in Human Services,Behavioral Health, Direct Support and Substance Use, providing students with anin-depth education with relevant workforce experience.

We are lookingfor a committed individual who will advance the College's mission by deliveringhigh-quality human services programs and courses that feature engaged learningprojects and curricula aligned to the regional industry needs. Our idealcandidate will bring a passion and commitment to teaching, advising, and sharedgovernance. The candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of a communitycollege's role in workforce development, and a commitment to diversity andinclusion as well as ability to positively influence, advise, mentor and workwith diverse student populations. The candidate should also be able toincorporate service and/or experiential learning into the classroom setting.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach courses at the Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and/or Ashland campuses, and online as assigned, including classes regional high schools and regional employers and other off-site locations;
  • Prepare course syllabi and develop curricula to meet course and program requirements and student learning outcomes;
  • Coordinate practicum placements by identifying locations and guiding students during their practicums;
  • Develop or revise programs as needed to reflect academic and industry needs;
  • Serve as academic advisor to students;
  • Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week;
  • Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
  • Attend Program, Department, Division, Faculty and Committee meetings;
  • Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Master's Degree in Social Work or a related degree from an accredited college or university is required (transcripts will be required of finalist candidates);
  • Two or more years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience teaching social work, sociology, psychology or related courses;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • A doctorate degree;
  • Experience in the field of social work;
  • Prior experience teaching online courses;
  • Community College teaching experience strongly preferred;
  • Knowledge of community college academic programs, services and culture;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and non-traditional students;
  • Fluency and/or experience teaching in Spanish and/or Portuguese;
  • Effective use of materials and assignments that develop the writing and critical thinking skills of students and integrate the cultural wealth each student brings to the classroom;
  • Will embrace the College's ideals of diversity, civility and inclusion as we strive to create a safe and

Additional Information:


Salary Range: $56,190- $62,837, in accordance with one'seducation and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreementclassification compensation structure.
