Operations Engineering Specialist I in GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

DUTIES: Assist with the planning, coordination, performance of methods, tooling, and design supporting the development and production of company products and services. Be assigned to a manufacturing process. For the assigned process, provide and maintain detailed work instructions, drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, and material presentation enhancements, manage the daily work plan, provide metrics for quality and schedule performance, and coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required to meet Operations goals. Contribute to the planning, developing, and coordinating of important manufacturing and engineering projects aimed at process development and improvement in the manufacturing areas. Provide specialized technical assistance and training to Operations Engineering team members. Use advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems that affect the successful manufacture of the aircraft, installation of systems, or performance of the final product. Determine and develop individual approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives. Work under limited supervision, having work reviewed only for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives. Act as liaison with representatives from other organizations and suppliers. Actively work to improve daily processes and ensure all work meets customer requirements. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of processes and company product. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field required. Eighteen months of engineering experience required, including any experience with: engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math; Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and processes; operating computerized equipment (i.e. CATIA); aircraft systems integration and electrical wiring integration; capability analysis and planning evaluation for new product integration to production; and configuration management for supplied electrical harnesses through supply chain to installation and final use. Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred. 5 years in the specific technical discipline or 10 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines, or 3 years in the specific technical discipline with Masters degree, or 1 year in the specific technical discipline with PhD.
