Location: Albany, NY Category: Civil Service Posted On: Mon Feb 10 2025 Job Description: Vacancy #: WF240227 Apply by: February 26, 2025 Title: Maintenance Assistant (Power Plant / Plumbing Shop) Location: Facilities Salary: $41, 399 Grade: CSEA SG-9 Hours: Academic Year: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm Summer: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm Duration: Contingent Permanent Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis. Valid NYS Driver's license required. Candidates are expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Ability to work at heights (with proper training) preferred. Operating Needs: Candidate must demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical systems. Candidate must have a basic understanding of HVAC control systems. Candidate must be able to work at heights (+- 35') and in confined spaces. Candidate must have computer skills commensurate with the expectations of the position. Must attend appropriate training and be willing to train others as requested. Must be able to work overtime if needed and be on an emergency call in list for after hour emergencies.
