OverviewThe Commercial Vehicle Spotter is responsible for the safe operation of commercial vehicles, spotting trailers in the yard, loading and unloading of the trailers, and performing yard checks. This work will primarily be outdoors. In the spotter will be exposed to the elements.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Yard Driver is responsible for the safe operation of commercial vehicles, spotting trailers in the yard, the unloading of trailers, and performing yard checks. This work will be primarily outdoors and will be exposed to the elements.
Work Schedule- Monday - Friday 12 noon - finish
Avg hours per day 10-12
It may include shuttle work back and forth, off-site.
Essential Functions- Operate Tractor-Trailer and/or straight truck in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance when hooking up to trailers
- Call in tire repairs prior to drivers arriving for their assigned routes
- Contact local LPM trailer refer vendor when an alarm code or refer failures arise
- Make local deliveries as a Driver when the need arises
- Operate a Yard Truck in a safe and efficient manner.
- Other duties and special projects as requested.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
- May need to rescue driver on the road that run out of hours
- Off-site shuttling
- Other duties as assigned by Transportation Team
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 years prior experience of driving experience
- Certified Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude:
- Must be highly motivated self-starter and be able to work independently.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Need to be able to adapt to changing conditions.
- Have ability to listen to and follow directions.
- Must be able to follow established procedures.
- Must have a good attendance and tardy record.
- Must be able to communicate in English both written and orally.
- Must have a valid CDL license and good driving record.
- Must have the ability to work in all types of outside weather conditions
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to carry, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to cooler and freezer temperatures. The associate is required to frequently sit, stand, walk, and climb. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a warehouse environment where temperatures can vary from very cool to very warm. The associate is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise levels in the work environment are typically low to moderate.
