Job Summary:
This position works out of the Warren County Extension Office which is located at 5162 Russellville Road, Bowling Green, KY.
Under the supervision of the County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences and/or Area Extension Agent for Food and Nutrition, the person filling this position will be responsible for delivering nutrition education programs to limited resource individuals and families. Educational programs may include workshops, exhibits, presentations, and food demonstrations on topics such as basic nutrition, food security, food safety, and food budget management. Regular duties include: Recruiting and enrolling youth, individuals, and families in the Nutrition Education Program; Planning and organizing the educational delivery; Evaluating the programs and submitting required records including computer and web based reports promptly; and Attending all training conferences. The Program Assistant will also refer to county extension agents the names, needs, and/or interest for individuals in areas other than nutrition.
State law requires a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the cabinet for health and family services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment.
Skills /Knowledge/Abilities:
Computer and food preparation skills. Knowledge of community organizations and agencies. Ability to plan, conduct and evaluate educational events. Oral and written communication skills and organizational and process skills. Ability to relate effectively with adults and youth.
