Accounts Payable Specialist - Military Veterans

Job Description:
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a key role in managing and processing the company’s financial obligations. You will ensure accurate and timely payments to vendors, contractors, and suppliers, while maintaining thorough records and supporting the smooth financial operation of our projects. Construction industry experience is preferred, as it will enable you to navigate project-specific accounts, contracts, and vendor relationships more effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Review and verify invoices and check requests, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to track and process project-related invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions in the accounting system.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing accounts payable reports.
  • Manage and track vendor contracts, ensuring timely payments and adherence to contract terms.
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve payment issues and answer inquiries regarding payment status.
  • Support internal and external audits as needed.


Requirements:
  • Proven experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles, with construction industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction-related accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and accounting software.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lien waivers, retainage, and progress billing in construction.
