The Boeing Product & Services Safety (P&SS) organization is looking for Experienced Airplane Safety Engineers to join their Airplane Safety Team within Enterprise Safety Mission Assurance in Everett, WA. This team is actively engaged in 777-9 airplane program.
The Airplane Safety Engineer’s responsibilities will include conducting thorough safety analyses at the airplane level across various engineering disciplines. This role entails leading the intricate integration of airplane systems, human factors, and safety assessments, all while considering the operational context of the aircraft. Attention to detail and a keen engineering mindset are essential as our safety deliverables play a critical role in ensuring airplane compliance.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong background in systems thinking and integrating multiple engineering disciples. The role requires the capability to initiate and effectively lead cross-functional teams and projects. Taking ownership of work tasks is crucial, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery of results are consistently achieved.
Familiarity with 25.1309, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, safety analysis, and hazard assessments is highly beneficial in this role.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership
- Leading airplane-level safety analyses like Runway Excursion or Airplane Common Mode to ensure integration across multiple functional systems
- Validating and verifying airplane level safety requirements
- Developing certification strategies for systems and airplane-level safety issues
- Executing airplane-level threat analyses (bird strike, rotor burst, cargo fire, tire and wheel failures, etc.)
- Representing ASE in airplane-level design trade studies, coordination of safety analyses, and functional integration assessments
- Ensuring adequate redundancy and physical separation of critical systems
- Utilize Model Based System Engineering tools to analyze architectures/designs and conduct safety analysis
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 5+ years of experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g. flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels, etc.) and/or systems integration
- 5+ years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 6PASI3 (6P1) - 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies
- 1+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements and procedures
- 1+ years of working knowledge of Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Particular Risk Assessment (PRA) and Fault Trees Analysis (FTA) and/or System Safety Assessments (SSA)
- 1+ years of experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault Tree Analysis, Functional Hazard Assessment and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
- Experience with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754
- Pilots license

Summary Pay Range: $104,550 - $141,450
