About the role:

A dynamic and visionary individual is sought to join our organization as a highly engaged member of the Commercial Data Management & Strategy (CDMS) team during a time of significant change. As a key player in the Data Acquisition team, the Associate Director of Omnichannel Data Acquisition will play a crucial role in driving and navigating transformative initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and growth. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, combined with strategic thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills, and an enterprise mindset, will be paramount to success in this role. Strong leadership will be required to inspire and motivate teams to embrace change and achieve organizational objectives. As an Associate Director of Omnichannel Data Acquisition, you will serve as the primary lead, subject matter expert, and communications point of contact within the USBU to ensure the commercial organization identifies, sources, and maintains an optimized supply of data within your respective data domain. Within your domain you will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external data suppliers and internal user communities to ensure that both a high level of supplier account management is maintained as well as a thorough understanding of the priorities and aspirations of the data consumers. Your responsibility will be to connect the dots between these external and internal stakeholders and outline a strategy that finds an appropriate balance while executing the day-to-day tactics needed to advance it. You’ll be expected to lead negotiations on contracts within your domain, both for new services and renewals, and work closely with CDMS Master Data and External Governance and Execution colleagues throughout the life cycle to ensure data acquisition smoothly transitions to onboarding, ingestion, and operations. You will also serve as the product manager for the Data Product that represents your domain. You will set the priorities and cadence of development and continual improvement activities in partnership with DD&T colleagues that will oversee the corresponding technical execution. As the product manager of the domain, you will set and drive data governance activities for the Data Product which include ongoing communication and alignment with the other data domains and data products. In totality, you will be expected to have a 360 understanding and command of all aspects of this data domain within the commercial organization, from how and where it is sourced, to how it is brought into the organization, and how and why the user community deploys it so that you can continually elevate the experience for all parties.

How you will contribute:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert and communications point of contact for the omnichannel data domain you represent for the USBU.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external data suppliers and the internal user communities that seek to obtain and utilize this data for a variety of commercial purposes.

  • Lead account management activities to ensure the alignment of information between parties and maintain good standing with suppliers and where all materials are kept up to date.

  • Conduct frequent listening sessions with key internal stakeholders to understand their brand and analytics strategies so that you can best develop an appropriate and corresponding acquisition strategy

  • Negotiate contracts for new services and renewals, partnering with procurement, legal, and appropriate CDMS department stakeholders.

  • Consistently and proactively research the industry partners within your domain to identify new and emerging opportunities and bring those updates to the data community on a regular basis

  • Act as the product manager for the Data Product that represents your domain which includes consolidating requirements, setting and balancing priorities and backlog items, and partnering with DD&T to ensure technical development follows through and continual improvements are shipped to production.

  • Collaborate with DD&T representatives and leaders to improve the quality and efficiency of the Data Product.

  • Lead and organize data governance activities for your Data Product, ensuring compliance, up to date documentation, resolving conflicts, and driving continuous improvement efforts.

  • Appropriately escalate and drive complex decisions and trade-offs within the Data Product in other governance forums where DD&T, CDMS and BU leaders can adjudicate

  • Coordinate with the External Data Governance & Execution team to ensure appropriate budgeting, contracting, and all related finance obligations are satisfied

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance for the evolution and enhancement of both the core data acquisition portfolio within the domain and the corresponding Data Product.

  • Oversees management of key external vendor relationships. Builds two-way Vendor partnerships that result in increasing operational efficiencies and better services.  Cultivates strategic partnerships to bring in thought leadership while supporting the business, developing the service/technology roadmap, and generating innovative ideas.

  • Builds, retains, develops, and motivates team members to success. Builds a talent base and succession plan, implements personal development plans and training to achieve business objectives.

  • Embeds an agile mindset and spirit of innovation in the team and the way they work.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to resource for your domain of omnichannel data, both internally and externally, and continually grow the base of knowledge within Takeda by proactively researching and identifying new and emerging opportunities.

  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders and possess an extensive and thorough communication and partnership network.

  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for new services and renewals, ensuring favorable terms and conditions, bringing best-in-class knowledge regarding pricing benchmarks and comps for various types of data solutions supplied within the industry.

  • Product Management: Set the direction of technical and data improvements within the domain by establishing priorities and backlog items for the data product team, all of which are regularly aligned and communicated with internal stakeholder teams to ensure optimal benefit and adoption.

  • Governance Leadership: Serve as a governance leader for your domain through extensive cross-functional communication and partnership, thus ensuring compliance and best practices.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA degree required, MS/MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 8 years of omnichannel experience in the pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries.

  • Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables

  • Ability to set priorities, deliver on deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks in an evolving, dynamic marketplace. 

  • Strong analytical skills and budget management.

  • Previous organizational change management experience

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and skills necessary to lead through change and influence without authority.

  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and critical thinking, as well as problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills–ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks for multiple projects

  • Track record of successful leadership, management, and development of small to medium, multi-disciplinary dispersed teams. Strong judge of talent with the ability to make tough talent decisions.

  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
