Traveling Painters - Military Veterans

STS Technical Services is looking for Traveling Painters based out of Bradenton, Florida. This role involves the application of paint and coatings using electrostatic and air-assist paint guns, ensuring high-quality finishes on company products. The ideal candidate is experienced in all areas of the painting process and is committed to precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Prime, paint, and touch up vehicles using power spray equipment and brushes.
  
  
• Flush tanks, hoses, and guns before color changeovers.
  
  
• Mix all types of paints for proper color, formula, viscosity, and consistency.
  
  
• Perform titrations and adjust chemicals as needed.
  
  
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following safety procedures and 6S standards.
  
  
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on work areas and equipment.
  
  
• Inspect products before, during, and after the painting process to ensure compliance with specifications.
  
  
• Perform sanding, washing, and conditioning of parts as necessary, including light bodywork.
  
  
• Train and assist new team members in processes and equipment functions.
  
  
• Participate in hazardous waste training and comply with EPA RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
  
  
• Disassemble, clean, repair, adjust, and reassemble painting equipment for optimal operation.
  
  
• Apply decals, stencils, and rust-proofing as required.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of painting experience in automotive, heavy vehicle/equipment, manufacturing, industrial, or automotive body shop environments.
  
  
• Ability to read and interpret paint codes, checklists, safety logs, and JSAs.
  
  
• Capable of painting an entire body or parts kit to meet DPU targets.
  
  
• Skilled in training new team members and cross-training in multiple painting techniques.
  
  
• Ability to perform touch-up work and handle at least 50% of the paint process independently.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  
  
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues effectively.
  
  
• Experience in powder coating is a plus.
  
  
• Willingness to train across multiple areas to achieve Painter II level certification.
