Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The College of Education and Allied Professions and the School of Nursing is inviting applications for an 11- month full time, fixed-term Health Services Coordinator and an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Practice (rank to be determined at hire). This position will be embedded at The Catamount School with teaching responsibilities within the School of Nursing.

The primary role of this position is to serve Health Services Coordinator at The Catamount School (TCS) as well as in a faculty role with the School of Nursing, teaching both didactic courses as well as providing direct clinical supervision of nursing students at the Catamount School and other locations. TCS is a 6th through 8th grade lab school operated by Western Carolina University (WCU) in partnership with Jackson County Public Schools (JCPS). The Health Services Coordinator will provide school nursing services for The Catamount School, to support the prevention of illness and disability, and early detection and correction of health problems to support the Whole School, Whole Child model. The successful candidate will be uniquely qualified with skills in preventive health, health assessment, collaborative planning and knowledge of community resources.
To meet State Board of Education and Board of Nursing requirements, the candidate must hold current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina and possess a minimum of three years' experience as a professional Registered Nurse. The faculty title will be Instructor or Assistant Professor of Practice, depending on qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must be a registered nurse (RN) and have at least three (3) years of experience working with children/families, and adults in health, preventative and wellness care. Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills; and evidence of skill in working with at risk populations. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. Bachelor-prepared nurses may serve as clinical instructors at WCU; if hired, a training program must be completed.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have a Masters Degree in Nursing and have working knowledge of child welfare, developmental disabilities, mental health and/or primary healthcare fields. Additional preferred skills include experience using Excel and electronic health care systems to review and manage data, service coordination and information, linkages, and referrals for community-based services. The individual should be self-motivated; organized; student-centered; outcome oriented; technologically proficient; possess strong interpersonal relationship skills including collaboration with diverse individuals and families; receptive to innovativepractices/procedures; willing to take the initiative to learn the duties/ responsibilities/ expectations of the work and operations of the lab school; and willing to work alone or as a group/team when necessary.
