Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Medical Advancement, the Associate Vice Chancellor oversees the entire major gifts program to ensure coordination, collaboration, effective metrics, accountability, and best practices for major gifts fundraising for WashU Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center. In partnership with the Vice Chancellor, this position will be a key leader in the implementation and enhancement of the grateful patient fundraising program, working across all units in Medical and University Advancement in a matrixed way to ensure the appropriate partners are included in planning and implementation of the program. This position coordinates the operational activities of staff in the areas of service-line major gifts and all individual donor-focused pipeline development activities, including the community fundraising events program. The Associate Vice Chancellor will ensure maximum results through increased internal collaboration with the University Advancement Development Vertical team. This position is one of four that report directly to the Vice Chancellor and is a key member of the senior leadership team for Medical Advancement. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: With primary responsibility for setting and achieving team goals for major gifts, assume significant day to day oversight and management responsibilities for clinical and research fundraising programs (service line major gift teams), linking and synchronizing all major gifts fundraising throughout Medical Advancement. Manage and grow the pipeline of major gifts donors and prospects through management of the leadership giving, annual giving, and community fundraising events teams. Key member of a team that will conceive, coordinate and drive the ongoing development of a sophisticated, first-class grateful patient engagement program for WashU Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center. Serve as primary contact to University Advancement Development Vertical team. Oversee internal relationship building and collaboration while monitoring and quantifying impact. In collaboration with Vice Chancellor, create and monitor an annual budget. Support staff to ensure best practices in all individual, major and principal gift proposals development. Perform other duties as assigned. More About This Job Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraising professional with a demonstrated track record as a fundraiser, manager and strategist in major and principal gifts fundraising in a healthcare and/or academic medical center setting. Candidates must have a minimum of eight years in a progressively responsible management position, in a higher education fundraising or similar environment with experience in grateful patient fundraising protocols and procedures. A successful record of significant achievement in the area of major and principal gifts. Demonstrated skill in developing sophisticated strategies for planning, implementing and administering complex gift situations in an academic enterprise. Major campaign experience.
