(NEX OCEANA CAR CARE CENTER) TIRE/BATTERY SERVICE WORKER - Military Veterans

Job Summary :
Removes replaces and rotates tires on authorized military and civilian vehicles. Checks batteries and recharges as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Incumbent may be required to possess a valid driver s license as this position may require instances of driving customers and government owned vehicles in and out of service-bay work areas in accordance with performing the duties and responsibilities specified below.
- Receives Auto Service and Repair Job Sheet SS 4 for replacement and or rotation of tube and tubeless tires on authorized military and civilian vehicles.
- Jacks and blocks equipment and removes wheels from vehicle. Demounts tire on tire changer machine following established procedures. Removes old tire lube and replace with new tire. Inflates tire utilizing tire inflation safety cages. Places new tire on electronic spin balancer measures for thickness selects proper size cone places wheel on shaft and threads spinner nut on to attached wheel. Aligns tires on both sides and rotates wheel to readout position. Based on readout attaches weight shown on outer and inner weight readout. Remounts tires upon completion.
- Checks and evaluates condition of incoming batteries based on customer request. Places battery on charging rack and observes condition. Utilizing Electrical Analyzer Battery Tester tests battery cells volts. Recharges or discard batteries as necessary.
- Ensures that area is kept clean and enforces all fire and safety regulations.
- Performs inventory count.
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Assignments are received in the form of work orders and oral instructions. Completed work is reviewed on a spot check basis for application of accepted work practices.
PHYSICAL EFFORT Works primarily with wheel assemblies. Work requires frequent stooping when placing wheel on vehicles. Work pace is not rapid nor is heavy exertion required on a continuous basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS Is exposed to the danger of falling objects wheels tires tools etc from work benches and of compressed air when operating tire breaker and tire inflation. Work is performed indoors. Uncomfortable conditions exist through summer time heat in enclosed buildings and annoying noises from impact wrenches.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive Hazardous Material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.

Requirements
GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of performing basic duties in connection with the servicing of motor vehicles such as replacement and or rotation of tube and tubeless tires checking and recharging batteries checking oil and water levels tire pressure anti-freeze etc.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to test vehicle battery efficiency using a battery analyzer tester replace and or rotate of tube and tubeless tires using jack and block dismounting tires on tire changer machine removing old tires and mounting new tires minor maintenance work of motor vehicles and mobile equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Works primarily with wheel assemblies. Work requires frequent stooping when placing wheel on vehicles. Work pace is not rapid nor is heavy exertion required on a continuous basis.
