The Center for Spirituality and Social Justice team at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Program Minister position.

This position is a ministry professional staff member of the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice focusing on the development of interfaith/multifaith programming, campus ministry retreats, the St. Kate's/CSJ Food Shelf, justice and mission service trips, and volunteer programs for all students, faculty and staff. This work is done in collaboration with the Office for Scholarly Engagement, Office for Equity and Belonging, with a particular emphasis on partnering with programs with Academic and Student Affairs and the Justice Commission of the Sisters of St Joseph, and other justice-oriented external community partners. Ultimately this position aims to provide students, faculty and staff with practical and spiritually/religiously reflective opportunities to integrate service and justice advocacy into the rhythm of their lives, and enhances their contributions to creating community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Train and supervise student peer ministers to offer programs, retreats, and trips to undergraduate students.
  • Participate in staff teams to support University celebrations and events sponsored by Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Office for Equity and Belonging, Office for Scholarly Engagement, and University Events.
  • Provide management support for the St. Kate's/CSJ Food Shelf with a delegated member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Province. This work is inclusive of the larger commitment of the university to Sustainable access to nutritious foods and housing. Student interns and workers are supervised by this staff person.
  • Participate in staff teams to offer programs, retreats, and trips to adult and grad students, staff and faculty.
  • Participate in staff teams to support Sunday, Holy Day, Baccalaureate Masses
  • Provide listening support for students, faculty and staff seeking support
  • Providing advisory support specifically for students organizing faith development and social groups

Salary Range: $46,000 - $54,000

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, with a preferred concentration in the liberal arts, specifically theology, religious studies or sociology.
  • Basic theological training is essential for this position.
  • Two years experience in campus ministry or social justice/social change leadership in a higher education setting.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the principles of other faith traditions inclusive on non-Christian faith traditions. Value the importance for interfaith/multifaith dialogue and interaction. Some experience with Catholic Social Teaching, Catholic Intellectual Tradition, The Catholic Sacramental Tradition, the Christian social justice tradition, and
  • Knowledge of a variety of justice and peace issues and the ability to articulate their place in the life of faith - and within the university's three-part mission identity as liberal arts, Catholic, & women-centered.
  • Knowledge of the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the ability to integrate these mission values into the vision and goals of CSSJ and OIESJ.
  • Strong informal teaching skills and understanding of student development.
  • Ability to be an effective mentor to student workers.
  • Understanding of the University environment, ability to work collaboratively with on/off-campus partners, build & sustain relationships with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, parents/families & community partners.
  • Must have a willingness to work some evenings and weekends; Ability to work effectively in teams and individually.
  • Critical thinking, organization, multi-tasking, and attention to details; Excellent verbal and written skills.
