Travel Plumbing Maintenance and Install Technician - Starting at $30 per hour - Military Veterans

This position is a combined role and will be based from one of our Veolia Service Centers. When working from base the position will be an integral part of the facility maintenance team or potentially fabrication shop (depending on location). Due to the growth of the Services business, this position will be called upon to travel to other Veolia Service Centres mainly based in their region (South/West/Central or East/North/Central NAM). Purpose of the travel will be for facility expansion or upgrade projects and sometimes at customer sites. During the periods away from base the main function of this position will be on-site execution of Veolia facility CAPEX projects. Core function of the role will be mechanical installation, repair or upgrade activities. This role will perform duties to the highest standard with regard to professional attitude toward work and safety. When working from the base Service Center the role will ensure installation of equipment, machinery, general repairs are carried out efficiently and properly.

Responsibilities:

  • Travels to Veolia facilities or customer sites for on-site installation of CAPEX projects. Up to 50% travel
  • Works with PVC, CPVC and ABS pipe using glue and primer. 1" to 12"
  • Installs hand valve and check valve and other instrumentation as required.
  • Rebuilds pumps and seals. Pneumatic, centrifical and positive displacement.
  • Sets pump motors and other machinery.
  • Installs and tanks and pressure vessels for plumbing.
  • Uses fabrication shop machinery like saws, drills, grinders and sanders to complete work.
  • Reads isometric P.I.D. and blueprints.
  • Is available on-call for emergency needs to maintain project install schedule
  • Works according to the facility maintenance leader directions
  • Demonstrates excellent EHS standards and follows policies/procedures in order to keep self and others injury free
  • Installs new or re-arranges existing equipment.
  • Performs preventative building and ground maintenance activities at the facility or within the 'Mobile' fleet
  • Follow good housekeeping practices by keeping maintenance and tool storage area neat and clean as well as timely cleanup of work area after each job is completed.
  • Perform physical duties such as lifting, climbing, working at elevated heights, and manual dexterity
  • Work in confined spaces with 14"x18" manways
  • Work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities around cranes and hoists.
  • Read documents and implement such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Required:
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., Home School Certification, or international equivalent to High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 1 year of PVC plumbing, OR mechanical repair and maintenance work experience or training.
  • Experience with isometric P.I.D. and blueprints.
  • Willing to travel 50% of the time. Up to 1 month at a time.

Preferred:
  • At least 1 year of repair and maintenance work experience.
  • Experience working with PVC, CPVC, and ABS pipe using glues and primers.
  • Experience installing hand valves and check valves.
  • Experience rebuilding pumps and seals.
  • Experience installing and plumbing tanks and pressure vessels.
  • Experience working around cranes and hoists
  • Experience using fabrication shop machinery (ie. saws, drills, grinders and sanders).
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Trade school experience for plumbing, carpentry, and/or mechanical repair is highly desired
  • Positive displacements pump repair experience.
