Platform Engineer (Soldier Pair) - Military Veterans

Systems Intelligence is excited to uphold the Army Software Factory’s mission of enabling Soldiers to become software professionals. We are looking for Platform Engineers to pair 1:1 alongside novice Soldiers coaching in those competencies such that the Soldiers learn by doing.  The objective is for our coaches to impart progressive expertise such that soldiers become capable of taking full ownership of their projects, and ultimately train others.   

 

Travel:  

CONUS travel in performance of the contract will be determined at the time of need. 

 

Shift:  

Core business hours of 8:45 A.M through 5:15 P.M central time, Monday through Friday, with eight working (non-lunch) hours per day 

Prescribed period during which lunch may be taken: 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. 


Responsibilities

  • The Platform Engineer is responsible for providing services and tooling so that application teams can develop mission specific software in a secure and scalable cloud environment. Platform Engineers are responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s technology infrastructure.
  • Platform Engineers are tasked with:
  • Ensuring that all systems are running smoothly and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of computer hardware and software in order to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Designing and implementing automation framework.
  • Monitoring application and network performance.
  • Reviewing code.
  • Ensuring standards of quality.
  • Consuming and analyzing large amounts of data to make predictions about future trends. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar relevant field.

  • 3 years of experience as a Platform Engineer.
  • Ability to coach and train junior platform engineers in the following: Knowledge of cloud computing service models Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes and pipeline tools.
  • Knowledge of portable, extensible, open source platform for managing containerized workloads and services in AWS.
  • Knowledge of the steps for release to higher levels of integration testing, certification activities, and/or operations using testbeds, modeling and simulation to synchronize software releases with the development of an operations environment(s) to ensure compatibility.
  • Knowledge of every stage in the software project lifecycle, from initial design and build to rollout and maintenance.
  • Must hold a current and valid IATII or higher certification (Security+ acceptable).
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance prior to start date and achieve/maintain Secret clearance upon final adjudication.
