Give your career a lift!  Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. (HYMH), a world-class manufacturer of industrial forklift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for developing and emerging Engineering students at our Warehouse Product Development Center (WPDC) located in Greenville, NC.  

 

We are looking for team-oriented candidates with strong problem solving and developing engineering skill sets. 

 

As an Engineering Intern, you will work in a product development team creating HYMH’s next generation of industry leading lift trucks.  You will assist the team to develop innovative, high-quality products and solutions that provide the lowest cost of ownership while maintaining the best overall value to our customers.  You will work with teams to verify and validate product performance vs. requirements.  As a team member, you will participate in new product development and current product support activities.   

 

The successful Engineering Intern will have the following Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Enrollment in bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related degree programs.  

  • Strong communicator with great verbal, written, and interpersonal skills 

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 

  • A willingness to learn 

 

The ideal Engineer Intern will have the following Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly 

  • Knowledge of vehicle and/or automotive technology 

  • Familiarity with electronic measuring equipment 

  • Demonstrated involvement in the extra circular activities that demonstrate leadership and initiative 

 

A HYMH Test Operations Engineer position has the following Key Accountabilities: 

  • Perform hands-on physical testing procedures accurately and in compliance with established protocols. 

  • Ensure proper setup, calibration, and operation of lab equipment while maintaining a safe and organized workspace. 

  • Document and communicate test results effectively for engineering analysis and decision-making. 

  • Assist in setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic data collection systems and instrumentation. 

  • Accurately record and analyze data, ensuring consistency and reliability for engineering applications. 

  • Collaborate with team members to enhance system efficiency and improve data accuracy. 

  • Follow safety and quality standards while conducting lab tests and handling instrumentation. 

  • Identify potential areas for improvement in testing procedures and data collection processes. 

  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and documentation to enhance future testing efficiency. 

  • Develop a solid understanding of the assigned role by engaging in on-the-job training and receiving mentorship.  

  • Complete assigned tasks with guidance from your supervisor and team, gaining valuable insight into functional operations, management practices, and leadership strategies.  

  • Build technical, managerial, and leadership competencies through hands-on experience and exposure to various assignments, preparing for a successful future as an employee or manager.  

  • Actively participate in team projects and contribute to team meetings to support collaboration and achieve project goals.
