Position Summary The open-rank faculty position in neurology within the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties will be filled by a neurology physician employed 100% by UIC College of Medicine Rockford. This role is dedicated to teaching Neurology to medical students on the Rockford campus. This faculty member will teach Phase 2 Neurology Clerkship students through one-on-one and small group sessions. Additionally, they will collaborate with counterparts on the Chicago and Peoria campuses to ensure consistency and quality in the program. Duties & Responsibilities Precept neurology clerkship students in the applicant's outpatient neurology practice. Dedicated time (50%) to direct student teaching Observed neurology History and Physical with formative feedback Review written neurology History and Physical with formative feedback Provide neurology small group lectures and seminars Teach neurology examination Review neuroradiology with students Facilitate case presentations from students Precept neurology elective Students or Family and Community Medicine Residents in the applicant's outpatient neurology practice. Orientation of students in each block Mid-Clerkship feedback to each student in each block Collecting and Assigning grades in each block Attend (zoom) Neurology ECC College-wide meeting held every 1-2 months Work with Chicago and Peoria counterparts to ensure consistency of education between campuses Work with Chicago and Peoria counterparts on objective assessment tools Participate in quarterly Department of Medicine Executive Committee meeting Potential development of Phase 3 electives (Sub-Internship, Interventional Neurology, Subspecialty Neurology) Participate in monthly Phase 2/3 Sub-Committee Teach in Phase 1 Curriculum Mentor medical students in neurology research Recruitment of faculty 50% Outpatient Clinical work at a UIC Rockford affiliated institution. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications The faculty position in Neurology, within the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties, is held by a Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank who has an MD/DO or foreign equivalent degree. Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the field of Neurology at the time of hire. Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in a clinical neurology setting.
