Control/ Software Engineer - Military Veterans

General Information:
Hitachi Energy seeks a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for new development with Flexible AC Transmission systems (FACTS) and High Voltage DC (HVDC). This individual will develop interface and communication hardware and software solutions to be used in installations. The Initial year of this position will be based in Sweden as part of the engineering team to develop HVDC controls for project deliverables. Following the initial work in Sweden the engineer will follow the project to site to participate in construction and commissioning.
Your Responsibilities:
- Creating drawings to support layouts and site designs
- Configuration of PCs both from an OS and network perspective
- Participate and contribute in design reviews
- Take direction from senior control members
- Develop detailed documentation to support created controls
- Takes full ownership of customer related issues and drives them to completion with internal and external suppliers and team members
- Works cohesively development team and local resources to address site issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Drives all activities on assigned projects / services and reports to team leads on status
- Contributes in new project control development strictly adhering to development processes and best practices
- Participate in factory acceptance testing as well as site commissioning of new projects
- Ensures projects follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies
- Follow and implement cyber security processes and standards in projects
- Support cyber security services with reporting and deliveries
- Ability to travel ~25%, with ability to spend roughly a year in Sweden for in-depth training

Your Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, preferably electrical or computer/control engineering
- Experience in one or combination of the following disciplines: Field Service; Project Engineering; Customer support
- Clearly demonstrates critical thinking to address issues
- Experience in development of software for user interface components and the networks they communicate over
- Network design and implementation fundamentals (TCP/IP, Domains, segmentation)
- Knowledge of virtualization technology as well as OS management
- Basic understanding of cyber security approaches and tools
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Working knowledge of industrial controls communication protocols - MODBUS, EtherCAT, IEC 61850
- Working knowledge of PLC coding and end-to-end SCADA communication
- Working knowledge of Intouch HMI software
- Experience from FACTS and/or HVDC projects is an advantage
- Experience with configuring IT components like firewalls and switches
