Inpatient Pharmacy Tech 4 - Diversion Prevention Team - Military Veterans

Additional Information About the Role

Are you a certified pharmacy technician looking for an opportunity to advance your pharmacy career? This role will be part of the BJC Diversion Prevention team and support monitoring controlled substance activities across departments using our innovative diversion detection software.

 

Technicians will analyze controlled substance workflows and collaborate closely with pharmacy leaders and local diversion teams to support effective diversion prevention strategies. The analyst is responsible for conducting audits and educating staff to optimize controlled substance handling and safety.

 

This position will help maintain best-in-class regulatory compliance standards in medication management.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 4, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, provides extensive support to staff pharmacists and helps guide the daily pharmacy operation. This position assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management. This position also authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
  • Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management; authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians.
  • Become proficient in required and continuous learning for the advanced role, including the advanced use and maintenance of associated electronic/automated systems, and any necessary certifications; serves as a subject matter expert, as denoted by advanced certification recognized by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or other required training outside of pharmacy.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
