Mentor, Male Student Success Initiative (MSSI) - Part Time | Community College of Baltimore County - Military Veterans

The purpose of this position is to provide advanced level support services to participant in the Male Student Success Initiative. Associate?s degree required, Bachelor?s degree preferred. Two (2) years of successful experience working with programs fostering persistence, coaching youth, volunteering in a community organization working with youth programs and/or working in a human relations position required. Demonstrated success working with males of color to help them to achieve academically preferred. Experience working with students providing coaching, advising, and/or academic support services preferred. Experience assisting new student?s transition into a college is preferred. Only day shift positions available. Coordinate activities and events for caseload of students to increase student engagement. Coordinate mentoring sessions and referrals to improve student academic performance. Establish communication protocol with MSSI Certified Faculty and MSSI Contextualized courses to adhere to best practices in Early Momentum Metrics. Implement processes with student support services to increase student persistence and retention. Assign Peer Mentors to specific tasks. Train Peer Mentors to implement best practices when working with students. Establish an MSSI calendar of activities and events. Coach students on a regular basis and adhere to the coaching requirements of MSSI. Advise students about academic requirements for graduation and transfer and assist students with the selection of classes and registration. Analyze data to achieve MSSI goals and outcomes. Coordinate internship and workforce development opportunities for students. Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive.
