Expected salary range of $103,500 to $115,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes commission and 401(k).
LOCATION
This is a remote position. Candidates must reside in the United States and be willing to work a corporate, day-shift schedule on Eastern Standard Time or Central Standard Time. Up to 10% travel is required, to attend in-office meetings as required
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Sustainability Business Development Manager (BDM) position is responsible for generation, development and management of customer relationships related to Constellation Navigator's suite of products and services. This role will primarily focus on carbon accounting and sustainability advisory services related to customers Scope 1, 2 & 3 reporting requirements and sustainability challenges. The Sustainability BDM will prospect and qualify new customers, set appointments, and close and renew customers to achieve financial targets by providing sustainability expertise throughout the sales process. Qualified candidates are expected to demonstrate a high degree of motivation as well as experience in identifying and growing business through direct and channel partner relationships.
Constellation Navigator's products and services help customers with pressing sustainability challenges, including reporting on Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, developing Climate Action Plan's and reporting on emission reduction progress through emissions reporting frameworks. As such, this team member is expected to qualify and educate mid-market and enterprise customers, align customer business challenges to solutions, and execute new and renewal contracts.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage internal and external relationships to support Carbon Accounting and Advisory Sales opportunities by acting as technical sales for Scope 1-3 and sustainability reporting and reduction solutions.
- Prospect customers by creating and leveraging lists of potential customers, identifying appropriate contacts and performing appropriate diligence in advance of customer reach out.
- Close new customers by fostering value-additive relationships with decision makers, collecting and documenting information pertaining to level of service for contract execution and implementation.
- Demonstrate foundational understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2 & Scope 3 emissions, reporting frameworks including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project, and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Constellation's broader suite of products and services.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication skills with the ability to speak in front of groups and senior decision makers.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in retail energy or sustainability advisory, in a sales, marketing, finance, consulting, or product management capacity
- 2+ years of B2B customer facing experience in Sustainability Advisory, ESG, Carbon Accounting, Energy or Utility industries, and understanding of units of measure, costs, contract structures
- Foundational understanding of Emissions Reporting; Reduction Scenario Analysis; and Scope 1, Scope 2 & Scope 3
- Self-motivation, including willingness to take on a broad range of responsibilities and make decisions in a manner consistent with Constellation values.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong presentation ability and highly organized. All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write in English
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and experience using databases
- Candidate must have access to a home office as there will be no regional field office
- Degree in field relevant to finance, economics, engineering or sustainability
- Success in selling complex solutions in fast changing market environment with fast sales cycles
