Chief Innovation Officer - Military Veterans

LTS is seeking an experienced Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) to lead the development and integration of cutting-edge technologies, processes, and strategies to enhance the delivery of healthcare services to military personnel. The CIO works across DoD components to identify areas for innovation and implement solutions that improve medical readiness, efficiency, and patient outcomes while ensuring compliance with DoD policies and mission goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:  

• Lead and guide the DoD’s innovation strategy for health readiness, identifying opportunities to improve healthcare delivery, operational efficiency, and medical readiness through the integration of new technologies and practices.
• Oversee the adoption and integration of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, telemedicine, robotics, advanced medical diagnostics) to enhance operational health readiness capabilities, improve care delivery, and streamline healthcare operations.
• Leverage data analytics, AI, and machine learning to drive insights that inform decision-making and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services and medical logistics within the DoD.
• Foster partnerships with internal DoD stakeholders, including medical personnel, operational leaders, and logistics teams, as well as external entities such as private sector companies, universities, and research organizations to identify and implement innovative solutions.
• Guide efforts to advance medical technologies, health systems, and operational strategies. Oversee pilot projects, ensuring that new concepts and solutions are tested, evaluated, and integrated into broader operational settings.
• Lead the transformation of health readiness operations by guiding the adoption of innovative practices and technologies. Support the DoD in navigating organizational change to implement new solutions effectively across diverse health services.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve the speed and effectiveness of medical service delivery, ensuring a highly responsive and agile medical readiness system.
• Ensure that all innovation projects adhere to DoD regulations, including safety, security, and medical ethics standards. Manage risks related to the implementation of new technologies and processes, ensuring compliance with DoD and healthcare regulations.
• Promote the development of a culture of innovation within the DoD health readiness workforce by providing training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities focused on technology adoption and process improvement.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of innovative initiatives on health readiness, patient care, and operational efficiency. Report on progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, health sciences, business, technology, or a related field.
• Significant experience in healthcare innovation, technology integration, or management, with a proven track record in driving change in large, complex organizations such as the DoD, military, or large healthcare systems.
• Deep understanding of DoD health readiness systems, healthcare operations, and the unique challenges of military healthcare.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies in healthcare, including digital health solutions, telemedicine, wearable health tech, AI, and data analytics.
• Knowledge of DoD regulations, medical readiness policies, and the logistics of healthcare delivery within the DoD framework.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive large-scale, cross-functional innovation initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex concepts to senior military leadership, medical professionals, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in data analysis, digital health technologies, and project management tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset and focus on long-term health readiness improvements.
• Ability to navigate complex military environments and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with change management, particularly in introducing new technologies or processes in healthcare settings.
• Visionary mindset with a passion for leveraging innovation to improve healthcare outcomes.
• Ability to balance innovation with practical considerations such as cost, risk, and operational feasibility.
