Postdoctoral Researcher in Physics | Carnegie Mellon University - Military Veterans

The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for a Full Time position in Experimental Biophysics for the Endesfelder Laboratory starting November 2020. The initial appointment is for one year and upon mutual agreement and satisfactory progress the appointment may be extended additional years. The research project will focus on the development of automated microscopy and analyses for in vivo single particle tracking (spt) in microbial cells. Microscope functionalities to be developed will include scanning of many fields-of-views in phase-contrast, automated identification of optimal positioning of field-of-views for experiments and autonomous spt imaging with a focus on imaging both, large statistics as well as identifing and recording anomalities. For spt-analyses, the researcher will perform data-driven modelling using advanced statistical physics. The project will be performed in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of experimental and theoretical scientists. Applicants need to hold a Ph.D. in Physics (or related fields) by the time of appointment.
