The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.

Your Role on the Team

Under general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Coordinator will provide administrative support in matters related to payroll and personnel management for the Student Health Center. This position will serve as the primary payroll processor for the Student Health Center with comprehensive bi-weekly (BW) and monthly (MO) payroll and time-reporting in the Time Reporting System (TRS) and UCPath and will assist with onboarding new hires and provide administrative coordination for personnel and payroll-related functions.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $59,487.12- $68,361.12 (annual).

Required:

  • Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and related business and communication software.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and present information in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Skills to perform mathematical calculations for payroll purposes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, including effective writing skills to prepare correspondences, various documents and reports, and email.
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize assignments and perform a variety of duties with constant interruptions in order to meet competing deadlines and contending requests for service. Ability to set priorities independently to reflect relative importance of job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to handle projects independently in a confidential manner with tact and sensitivity to campus policies.
  • Willingness and ability to meet University and department standards for attendance.
  • General knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • One to three years of experience with a BA/BS in business administration, public administration, or an allied field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred:
  • 1-3 years Human Resources experience
  • 1-3 years Working in an union environment or healthcare setting
  • Experience with UC Systems: UCPath, TRS, DocuSign, iCIMS, JDX and Service Now.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of University personnel/payroll policies and procedures related to compensation, leaves of absence, employee relations, and employee benefits.


Special Conditions:
  • This position's schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, however, weekend or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours.
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.
  • The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. The employee must comply with CDPH and UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception.
  • Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
