VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Military Veterans

at HERC- Upper MidWest

The Department of History at the University of Iowa has an opening for 2025-26 academic year for a 75% Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern African history . The successful candidate will offer three courses each semester (fall 2025 & spring 2026), including both introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses. Preference will go to candidates who are prepared to teach a broad range of courses and whose teaching interests include women, gender, sexuality, and health.

This is a one-year, non-tenure track position , with the possibility of renewal up to three years. The selected candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2025. The University of Iowa requires all new faculty complete a Criminal Background Check and Credential Check.
