BOM Routing Specialist responsible for creating BOMS, updating BOM, and maintaining the files while maintaining all Quality and Safety measures.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a BOM (Bill of Materials) Routing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of production processes within the manufacturing or engineering department. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routing structures for various products. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and technical expertise will be instrumental in maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation that will help streamline the production and assembly processes.
The BOM Routing Specialist role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the production process. By maintaining accurate BOMs and optimizing routing structures, the specialist contributes significantly to the overall success of the manufacturing or engineering department.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Engineering to generate drawings for the development of new tooling and equipment or to upgrade existing equipment.
- Work with Engineering and Product Development to create or maintain and revise product drawings as necessary.
- BOM Creation and Management:
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to collect relevant data and information required for creating BOMs and routing structures.
- Accurately input product components, materials, quantities, and their respective suppliers into the BOM database.
- Continuously update and revise BOMs as design changes, new components, or revisions are introduced.
- Routing Structure Development:
- Define and optimize the routing structure for various products, specifying the sequence of operations required for assembly, testing, and quality control.
- Work closely with the production team to understand the manufacturing process and incorporate best practices into routing structures.
- ERP System Utilization:
- Utilize the company's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to manage BOMs and routing data.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and verification within the ERP system.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of BOM and routing data.
- Identify and rectify any discrepancies or inconsistencies found during audits.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Generate reports and documentation related to BOMs and routing structures as required by management or other departments.
- Provide regular updates on BOM-related metrics and KPIs.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with design, engineering, procurement, production, and quality assurance teams to gather information and align on changes and updates to BOMs and routing structures.
- Maintain drawing files in an organized manner.
- Wear appropriate PPE when in required areas.
- Comply with all NOV Company policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Comply with all HSE policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Comply with all Quality policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Degree in Engineering, Engineering Tech, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Computer Aided Design, or related experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and practices.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Parametric modeling is a bonus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Basic math and writing skills.
- Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties as required.
- Ability to learn technical repair and assembly guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read drawings
