Reporting to the Supervisor of Asset Management in Facilities Management, the Inventory Specialist position to perform inventory management, asset tagging, surplus, and record keeping. Asset Management plays a critical role at the University providing careful oversight and management of assets owned by the University at Albany, the Research Foundation, and the University at Albany Foundation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing inventory of campus assets in accordance with established University at Albany, SUNY, RF, and UAF policies, procedures, and schedules. Provide policy advice on property control matters to campus officials, coordinating the campus response to external control agencies, and developing recommendations involving property control policy. Maintain a working knowledge of related inventory databases, applicable mail merge procedures and documents, laser scanner applications, and equipment.
- Perform new asset tagging procedures in accordance with SUNY, RF, UAF, and University at Albany procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Affix the appropriate barcode, property, or sponsor ownership tag to new equipment, properly complete all required forms, update applicable databases, and maintain file documentation.
- Perform asset surplus, relocation, reassignment, and/or disposal procedures in accordance with SUNY, RF, OGS, and University at Albany procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
- Using the Combined Database, reconcile asset records with RAMI, making all necessary adjustments to ensure the accuracy of the records.

Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to: Supervisor Asset Management
- Supervises the following positions: none
- May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling the postion)
- Must work with department contacts to conduct job responsibilities that include inventory in the field and communicate with those contacts as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with SUNY policies, procedures, and schedules relating to Asset Management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have a valid Drivers License.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization OR two years' experience in inventory management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel
- Demonstrated experience with the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory management
- Experience working with asset management software
Working Environment:
- 50% Typical office environment
- 50% Walking and on feet conducting inventories for various areas on campus, driving state vehicle
- Required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Staff Assistant, SL-2, $50,000
