Responsibilities
This position performs Human Resource Generalist responsibilities at the Berry Global, Inc. facility in Peosta, IA . The successful candidate will assist in the completion of organizational responsibilities in all functional areas within Human Resources to include but not limited to employee relations, organizational development, communications, payroll, compensation and benefits, training, team learning and development, succession planning, retention and staffing.
- In partnership with site HR leadership, provide proactive HR support and execution in all business initiatives including staffing, managing all phases of the hiring process, compensation and benefits, training and development, succession planning, records management, employee relations and retention.
- Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and analyzing opportunities for improvement, evaluating and implementing solutions, coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Facilitates on-boarding process for new hires, manages the 90 day onboarding process, monitors team member feedback and creates plans to ensure new hire retention.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
- Maintain, update and ensure accuracy of information in the Human Resources and Payroll (HRIS) systems.
- Manage and track all leaves of absences and attendance monitoring.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and participating in professional organizations.
- Ability to navigate thru various/similar HR related Software - Bswift (Benefit Administration software), HRIS System (Infinium), Timekeeping System (KRONOS), Employee Career and Performance Planning (myCareer), Learning/Team Development and safety training modules (myDevelopment & GDC).
- Lead and summarize employee investigations.
- Assists with plant organizational development and expansion.
- Manages the Berry Employee Communication System (BTV) for the production facility and the remote warehouses.
- Manage current temporary staffing agencies to fill open positions. Review potential new staffing agencies to partner with to satisfy plant and customer needs.
- Assist with potential Berry Team transfers to different plants for advancement opportunities or team members needing to relocate.
- Monitor and increase employee engagement, including use of key metrics, incentives, service awards, employee engagement events and employee communications.
- Process payroll, employee withholdings and garnishments on a bi-weekly basis.
- Maintain and report key performance indicators (retention, attrition, etc.), analyze trends and recommend improvements.
- Research and provide input of HR products and processes to suggest better ways HR tasks can become more efficient and improve HR established practices.
- Assists with UI Claims and Workers' Compensation management. Represent the plant at UI and WC Hearings.
- Play an active role in coordinating all employee activities and support site initiatives to encourage an engaged workforce.
- Bachelor's degree or three to five years of Human Resources related experience preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State employment law is required, along with proven ability to apply that knowledge.
- Proven skills: Performance Management, Training Management, Resolving Conflict.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Prior experience processing payroll is highly preferred.
- Demostrated experience Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
- Working knowledge with talent acquisition systems is required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
