Budget Analyst - Military Veterans

The Budget Analyst is an integral part of the Finance and Administration team and supports the college's mission by working with budget managers to develop, prepare and monitor budgets. This position also serves as subject matter expert for the college's long range planning software. Reports to the Assistant Controller.
Job Duties
- Works with budget managers to develop, prepare and monitor operating and compensation budgets by:
- Developing budgets to use in the budget cycle
- Receiving budgets and other financial analyses from all campus divisions and critically examining them for correctness, accuracy, and completeness
- Reviewing, analyzing, projecting, and reporting on departmental and division budget variances
- Answering questions and helping budget managers understand their budgets and the process for requesting changes
- Assisting the VP for Finance & Administration and Controller with the production of materials for the President, Senior Leadership, and Trustees
- Serving as subject matter expert for the college's budget and financial system. Will play an integral part in the implementation of the new budgeting software, including training for financial managers, and will be charged with annual updates to the system's data. Will assist in updating the long-range planning software
- Assist with, monitor and review account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly cash flow analysis/projections
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years experience in a related field, or high school graduate with 5+ years experience in related field
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
- Excellent communication/written skills required
Preferred:
- Higher Education experience
- Experience with Oracle financial system a plus
