JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Campus Change & Transfer Student Specialist is dedicated to supporting various student populations at Ohio State across all campuses. Provides targeted and specific outreach and support to students transitioning from a regional campus to the Columbus campus, and undergraduate students transferring to Ohio State. Develops, plans and implements transitional activities and programs to support students in conjunction with Academic Success Programs within the Office of Undergraduate Education during their transition to Ohio State, such as the Transfer Student Welcome and the Campus Change Breakfast. Helps to support the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Quality Initiative, as it relates to transfer student and campus change student success. The Campus Change & Transfer Student Specialist must be able to understand how cultural context differences and institutional/social barriers influence the student experience to apply inclusive advocacy strategies to all students. Helps to identify policies and procedures that advance inclusion. Engages in continuous training and professional development to remain informed on existing and emerging strategies to promote student persistence and academic success. Participates in administrative committees, which may include leading subcommittees and workgroups. Develops print and digital student-focused materials. Assists with developing grant proposals for different funding sources to support advising-related and student success work. Develops and delivers student-facing components (e.g., advising, group events, cohort meetings), proposing and adapting program elements to meet emerging student needs. Provides a collaborative case management approach to develop, enact, and monitor student support initiatives. Serves as a point of contact for designated students throughout their transition to the Ohio State Columbus campus to help students strive toward the overarching goals of student success, learning, and development, ultimately leading to graduation. Provides support, advises, and assesses students' academic strengths and career aspirations in relationship to the undergraduate majors/minors at the University. Maintains confidentiality of student appointment notes and academic records. Refers advisees to other offices as appropriate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 30%: Initiates, leads, or completes complex projects within unit or with external partners. May assign project work to members in unit. Mentors less experienced colleagues on project completion. Engages in professional development, such as presenting at conferences; serves as a head liaison or consultant within unit. Mentors and provides leadership in the larger campus and advising community. Engages in decision-making processes that affect the student experience. Identifies resources available for complex cases and may handle complex cases such as registration petitions and transfer credit application. Integral role in supporting the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Quality Initiative, as it relates to transfer student and campus change student success. 30%: Utilizes OnCourse to solicit feedback from faculty to understand individual student performance in each course. Provides follow-up referral and support based on OnCourse feedback. Guides students to opportunities for course/major selection/exploration, balanced course loads, and financial coaching. Refers students to services, programs, people, and opportunities across campus to address immediate concerns as well as ongoing academic, personal, interpersonal, and career development concerns. Provides intensive, proactive advising and advising interventions to help students navigate key academic choices and establish individualized academic maps. Enters and maintains notes about student cases. 20%: Assists in the implementation and execution of virtual student orientation for transfer and campus change student populations, including best practices in supporting students in transition. Coordinates with other units and central First Year Experience office for planning and delivery. Redesigns activities and materials. Sends student academic success nudges to identified students to increase awareness of important deadlines and important co-curricular programs and resources. 10%: May teach one or more sections of ESEPSY 2059 and/or EXP 2100 course(s). Updates course materials, recommends and helps implement course improvements. Recommends strategic course adjustments and trains other lecturers on how to teach course. Assigns grade and provides feedback to students. 10%: Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree or equivalent experience (Masters required for teaching) preferred. Professional certification or licensure is desired. The pay range for this position is $51,000-$56,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
