Medical Biller - Military Veterans

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Reimbursement Specialist to join our growing team. The Reimbursement Specialist will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of claims and maximizing reimbursement for services provided. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare billing regulations, coding, and payer requirements.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance payers.
Monitor claim status and follow up on denied or unpaid claims.
Research and resolve claim denials and appeals.
Analyze reimbursement trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies.
Work closely with other departments, such as coding and clinical staff, to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
Respond to inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders regarding billing and reimbursement.
Reconcile payments and prepare reports on reimbursement activity.
Identify and report any discrepancies or potential compliance issues.
Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in healthcare billing and reimbursement.
Strong understanding of medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing practices.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other relevant healthcare compliance requirements.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)).
Experience with specific payer requirements (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance).
