The Director of Undergraduate Clinical Affairs will oversee the internal daily operations of the department and develop and maintain clinical rotations training sites affiliated with Des Moines University (DMU). In maintaining the quality of its clinical rotation sites, this position will directly supervise and coordinate Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicines (DMU COMs) clinical coordinator team. This position will be responsible for cultivating relationships with hospitals and preceptors to align college and university goals to deliver effective clinical education for our 3rd and 4th year students. This leadership position is also responsible, in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, for identifying potential sites for undergraduate education opportunities. The Director serves as a liaison for the DMU COM and will support compliance, facilitate communication, and interface with accreditation agencies and clinical institutions. This position will report to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs within the COM Deans office. What youll do: Serves as the Colleges primary point of contact for hospital administration in managing undergraduate medical education (UME) issues. Ensure that students receive a quality educational experience to meet curricular and graduation requirements. Serve as the day-to-day manager for our Clerkship Coordinator Team. Provide Pro Forma analysis and communicate with hospital administration in developing a budget plan for clerkship positions. Identify potential sites for UME opportunities. This will include identifying and developing new partners for undergraduate education. Audit student outcomes data and create options for continuing quality improvement. What we are looking for: Bachelors degree in Finance, Business or Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Education, or related field required. A related Masters degree preferred. Two years of Healthcare Administration, Financial Administration experience, or Clinical Affairs office experience in a health sciences institution. One year of supervisory experience required. Knowledge of medical education processes, healthcare systems, and medical terminology desirable. Knowledge of information technology and report development desirable.
