Description: Tracked Vehicle Product Manager - Production

The Domestic Tracked Product Manager - Production is a leadership position with direct reports that is responsible for providing training/development, organization, direction and guidance to the employees responsible for execution of one of our legacy vehicle productions. The portfolio consists of current domestic vehicle platform production support, problem report burndown, and engineering RCCA efforts for design issues impacting production (manufacturing, SCM and sustainment. In support of this portfolio, the selected candidate will lead and manage a team of engineers that operate in roles of product managers, project leads, chief/deputy chief engineers and IPT leads. This manager must have strong job knowledge and working relationships within manufacturing, SCM, and quality. The manager and his/her team will interface directly and work regularly with the internal PMO and other process centers.

Responsibilities:


  • Will train and develop direct employees that report to the individual.
  • This role manages the departmental workload and executes talent hiring and employee performance actions
  • Works with program office, manufacturing, QA/SQA, and SCM to resolve production issues as quickly as possible
  • Represent the portfolio and department to GDLS leadership and our customers as necessary
  • Will review and approve all engineering bids within the portfolio of vehicle products that are under this role's responsibility.
  • Conduct performance management activities using the GDLS processes
  • Provide direction and guidance to the team of direct reports in the following areas:
    • Generate and execute project plans and integrated schedules
    • Establish funding mechanisms to facilitate work scope (eg, BCRs, WADs)
    • Forecast and maintain project manpower demand file
  • Establish & utilize problem reporting metrics to drive and monitor project performance
  • Lead engineering RCCA activities for production issues
  • Communicate direction and guidance to stakeholders that deliver technical products
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Engineering or (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems preferred but other degrees will be considered with relevant experience).
  • MBA/MS a plus
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Project Management experience required
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams
  • Experience in leading design, development and integration of complex systems
  • Proven leadership skills and competencies
  • Ability to assess technical risk and develop corrective actions and/or mitigation plans
  • Must have excellent analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent business acumen and negotiating skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Project Management experience required
