Instructional Support Associate - Military Veterans

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Digital Futures Institute (DFI) seeks an Instructional Support Associate (ISA). In this part-time role, the Instructional Support Associate will mainly support Teachers College faculty in the development and set-up of their courses in Canvas. In addition, the ISA will assist in providing support for DFI workshops, professional development opportunities, and other administrative tasks as needed.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting with course site layout and editing of Canvas LMS sites
- Documenting concerns and problems with technology as they arise
- Utilize a ticketing system and project management system to track various responsibilities
- Testing course technology and activities
- Support faculty with simple media creation
- Support DFI full-time staff in workshops, webinars, and other DFI-sponsored events
- Cover weekly in-person office hours for a minimum of 10 hours per week
Skills and competencies:
The ideal candidate will have a passion for higher education and adult professional development, along with an outstanding aptitude for teaching and learning new technologies. The candidate will both be able to communicate professionally and personably with any faculty, student, or staff and also demonstrate a high level of empathy and proactive problem-solving abilities. It is also essential that the candidate be able to work with minimal supervision, juggle multiple projects, and maintain a "can-do" mindset even when facing daunting challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of an LMS (Canvas preferred but not required)
- Excellent writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google apps
- Experience working at a higher education institution, educational organization, or a corporate training environment
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strong customer service skills
- Accommodate a flexible work schedule, including after hours and weekends
- Ability to work both in person and virtually
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS
- An applicant who is not currently a matriculating TC student
Salary Range: $25.00/hour
